Two guys named James & Greg are the masterminds behind this genius that is 'The Electrical Shop'. Their aim; to bring well-designed, affordable and fashionable lighting to the masses. With a striaghtforward design ethos they use good quality components, great materials and a touch of innovative flair (with some electrical know-how thrown in for good measure). We chatted with brand director James to get to know a little bit more about the brand.
What’s the story behind the brand?
We started The Electrical Shop a few years back when Greg and I realised that between us we had the skills and the passion to create a lighting product that reflected our own personal design tastes. With some help from friends who specialise in various fields we launched the brand in Autumn 2013.
What are your backgrounds within the industry?
Neither of us have a strict design background - Greg is an electrician and my background is in marketing. Through trial and error, and a product designer friend, we were able to put a product together that we are really proud of.
What’s your favourite product you stock?
For me, the best product we stock is the black diamond cage light with black cable. It's simple, classic and works in almost any interior setting.
Next on your bucket list?
Explore more of the USA. We visited LA earlier in the year and are itching to explore more of the west coast and beyond.
How do you take your coffee?
Strong, with a dash of milk. Monmouth coffee where possible!
Favourite place to eat in London?
We had a really great meal at Blackfoot on Exmouth Market recently, but failing that the roof of Shoreditch House is always a winner.
2 items you can’t leave your house without?
Headphones and iPhone.
Favourite accessory at the moment?
Ashley Watson key clip in tan leather.
