Vintage furniture, taxidermy and unique lighting all collated in a truly captivating concept store. Cassandra and Edward are the masterminds behind Dig Haüshizzle, our new favourite store in the heart of Bristol. We chatted with Edd about how they got started, his favourite pieces and what men's fashion means to him.

How did you guys get started?

We got started when we bought our flat here in Bristol, it was a blank canvas so we decided to go to town with what we really liked. Our friends started noticing some of the bits we were buying were really individual so we kept buying, hunting and communicating with people all over the world regarding furniture and before we knew it we had amassed a good selection of pieces. We then rented a space for 6 weeks in the large shopping centre in Bristol and by the end of that time we were pretty much left with a table, so on the last day of trading in that space I spent the day sat on the only piece of stock we had left. This really gave us the confidence that what we were doing could work as a business.

Why Bristol?

Because its an amazing city and its where we live!

Where do you source your product from (or is it a secret?)

You’re right its top secret… no to be honest theres no simple single answer to that question. We hunt the length and breadth of the UK, covering loads of miles often on fruitless journeys. We very rarely buy stock from the internet, we love to deal face to face with people and often stumble across an item thats more amazing than the original thing we went there to look at.

What's your favourite piece you have in right now?

I really love these Alec Tiranti Metal Sculpture Stands that we have at the moment. They’ve got the perfect mix of functionality and aesthetic.

In your opinion what's the most masculine piece of furniture a guy can have?

In my opinion a beautiful original floor standing anglepoise or 1209 desk anglepoise are both hugely masculine and elegant that the same time. Their history is set deep with industrial roots but the way they can be positioned so effortlessly is something very pleasing as well.

What's your take on the mens fashion scene right now?

I think guys have got it pretty good at the moment, but like with anything over saturation can be an issue. My wife got in into Vivienne Westwood about 10 years ago, so I basically buy the odd piece from Westwood when I can and mix it with less expensive pieces like second hand French Workwear. I really like things that are well made and built to last. I swear by Danner boots. I try not to keep things for best, this is another trait I have taken on from my wife.

Take a peek at our store, what's you're favourite items?

I love the look of the Il Bussetto Small Portfolio in Hazelnut and the Monokel Barstow Sunglasses in Crystal, but I do have a habit of misplacing sunglasses! The Alfredo Gonzales Sock look nice too.

Where's next on your map to visit?

Next year I’m heading out to Berlin on a friends stag do, Montenegro and ideally I liked to squeeze in a trip to Istanbul as well but we’ll see how the year pans out.

Traditional of contemporary?

Traditional

How do you take your coffee?

At home I use an areopress with some frothy heated milk, but I am a sucka for a latte too!
