Meet the Brands - Charlie Borrow

Words - Mancave London

Pictures - Jake Baggaley

We first discovered Charlie Borrow in August this year and straight away we were won over by his beautiful leather and canvas bags. Charlie hand makes all of his bags in a little workshop in the heart of Shoreditch, London. Walking in, you feel like you are walking into Aladdin’s cave; hides of leather thrown over the back of wooden stands, an old school Adler industrial sewing machine sat gracefully against white brick walls opposite an imposing work bench where he individually cuts out all the pattern pieces for each masterpiece. Finished articles are hanging from the ceiling, all with hand stamped swing labels – dated with their individual item number, while dust bags are ready to be run through for finishing. And then there is Charlie; a charismatic fellow, bright eyed and infectiously passionate about his craft. A self claimed ‘one-man-band’ he is the driving force and entity behind the brand, acting as sales man at small trade shows and designer/craftsman all other waking hours of the week. It doesn’t take long to understand why we became infatuated with this truely British brand.

“The key to producing the highest quality product is in the time and care taken to make each and every product. All the items are expertly hand crafted in the London workshop one at a time from the finest British materials. Each of these is offered with a 15 year guarantee and unlimited repairs, so not only will your item stand the test of time but the materials selected assure your bag will age in a beautiful and unique way.” Charlie Borrow
