The brand was started by Fabrice Richard, for which the Calepino project was the product of a simple research into functional blueprints. After having seen Denmark and discovered a passion for Scandinavian design, the founder Fabrice, went to work for a French diary company. After a short spell of web designing, he found a love for paper creation. Thus, the Calepino notebook was born!

Based in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, Calepino decided to support the local expertise. Therefore, all their notebooks are printed and made in a local and reputable family business in the region on Nantes. The cardboard used for packaging, is made in a French factory dating back from 1927, whereby each book is individually controlled, folded and composed by hand. The raw materials used to make their notebooks are not only high quality, but also 100% recycled. The paper comes from durable forests, and voids any dangerous substances when the pages are whitened.
